Our Own High School wins Sharjah Environmental Award 2016

“Creativity is thinking up new things, innovation is doing new things….”

At Our Own High School Al Warqa’a, the students and the environment team brought their creativity to life by creating an innovative forest using recyclable materials. More than 30 schools with 65,0000 participating students from schools across the United Arab Emirates participated in the interschool competition of creating a  ”Forest With Recyclable Materials” conducted by Schools Environment Protection Programme, organized by the Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) and sponsored by Bee’ah, an environmental management company headquartered in Sharjah. The competition challenged primary school children from across the UAE to create a forest made exclusively from recyclable waste. It was a remarkable learning experience that helped to highlight the need to promote recycling among students.

Our Own High School Al Warqa’a emerged as the proud winner of this year’s competition, receiving a cash prize of AED 15,000 from the sponsors. The award was presented by CEBC Chairman, H.E Dr. Nasser Saidi in the presence of Mr. Salim Dahman, Head of CSR and Events Bee’ah , Mr. Sukwinder Bassi, Senior Vice President , GEMS Education and Mr. Sanjeev K. Jolly Principal & CEO at Our Own High School, Al Warqa, Dubai.
